Escapes

Garden design that puts wildlife at the forefront, blending beauty with purpose.

our philosophy

ETHOS

Our beliefs are tied directly to the environment: leave a place better than you found it. We practice the removal of aggressive invasive species, use low or no till methods, minimize waste, and operate with battery-powered tools to minimize excessive noise and exhaust fumes.

The Process

DeSIGN

The design process carefully considers the aesthetic and individuality of our clients, to meet with the challenges of the natural Catskill landscape.A teaspoon of soil per every ton of stone

Personal Aesthetic

Style

The exterior of a home is a reflection and extension of the interior. Our gardens reflect the personal style unique to our clients.

Native and non-invasive

Plants

Our gardens blend the use of non-invasive ornamentals alongside native plant varieties. While native local and regional plants are available, varieties have been bred from them to produce a variety of desirable characteristics. Plants are selected carefully to suit the environment, while minimizing impact to the local natives.

finding respite

habitat

While so many of us have found respite, nestling ourselves in the hills of the Catskills, our gardens aim to provide respite for wildlife to hide and recharge within the gardens.

local knowledge

inspo

Much of the inspiration for our projects comes from our local, natural environment. We have the opportunity to model our own designs and plant selections off of the slopes, stones, and flora of our open spaces and woodlands.

our experience

learn

A garden, just like us, is a constant evolution and iteration of a past version. We can gain invaluable insight spending time these spaces, learning about ourselves, our experience, and our role in the natural world.

In a past life, our founder has completed many high-end residential projects all along the Hudson River, from the historic Coeyman's house, down to the Metal Shutter House of West Chelsea. Many of the NYC rooftop gardens were largely inspired by the plantings of the city's Highline Park, combined with the plant knowledge and cultural education gained operating and growing in nurseries for several years.Find us on various social media or directly via e-mail.
